Aconcagua - the highest mountain of America. With it's 6.962 m it is one of the "Seven Summits". We will climb it on the Normal Route, hiking via the Base Camp Plaza de Mulas and several high altitude camps to the top of it. Expedition is full serviced from/to the City of Mendoza. Expedition is physically demanding and suitable for experienced mountaineers.
Day 1
We meet at Mendoza City Centre. Equipment Check and Welcome-Dinner.
Day 2
This day we get the paperwork for the ascent permit done. To climb Aconcagua we have to buy a climbing permit (not included in the costs, around 900 USD/person).
Day 3
Transfer from Mendoza City to a Mountain Hostel to start acclimatization.
Day 4
Entering the Provincial Parque Aconcagua and a slow and easy hike to Camp Confluencia, about 3-4 hours.
Day 5
Dayhike from Camp Confluencia to the South Face of Aconcagua. This day you will visit the impressive South Face of Aconcagua and return to Camp Confluencia for the night. (5-6 hours)
Day 6
Hike from Camp Confluencia to Base Camp Plaza de Mulas. Long hike to the Base Camp. (8-9 hours)
Day 7
Rest day at Plaza de Mulas. Time to prepare loads for higher camps and to get acclimatized.
Day 8
Hike to 1st high camp Canada. This hike will be done for your acclimatization. You can also porter already some gear up to the higher camp. Descent to Base Camp Plaza de Mulas. (5-6 hours)
Day 9
Ascent to the 1st high camp Canada. We hike up slowly and spend our first night at around 4900 m of Altitude. (3-4 hours)
Day 10
Ascent to the 2nd high camp Nido de Condores. First day we hit the 5000 m of Altitude and spend a night at Nido de Condores at 5400 m. (4-5 hours)
Day 11
Rest day at Nido de Condores.
Day 12
Ascent to 3rd high camp Berlin. We proceed higher up to 5900 m of Altitude and spend a short night up there.
Day 13
Summit Day! If weather conditions are good we have an very early start and walk in about 9 hours to the summit of Aconcagua 6962 m. Descent roundabout 4-5 hours, and spend another night at Camp Berlin.
Day 14
Reserve days for bad weather, more time needed for acclimatization.
Day 15
Reserve days for bad weather, more time needed for acclimatization.
Day 16
Reserve days for bad weather, more time needed for acclimatization.
Day 17
Descent from Camp Berlin back to Base Camp Plaza de Mulas. Long descent back to the comfort of the Base Camp. Overnight stay at Base Camp.
Day 18
Descent from Plaza de Mulas to the Park Entrance and Transfer to the City of Mendoza. Long day, 8-9 hours of hiking, plus 3 hours of transfer.
Day 19
After Breakfast we say Goodbye! End of Expedition.
